Increase Your Restaurant Business With Outdoor Dining Arrangements

You don't have an outdoor dining area, you could be missing out on large number of potential customers and short-changing your weekly income.

Don't be discouraged, though. With the addition of an outdoor dining space, you can increase your restaurant's capacity, build your revenue, and attract new customers.

Outdoor Dining and Your Restaurant

There are few factors to consider when you are thinking of creating an outdoor space for your restaurant.

Curb Appeal : Consider for a moment what attracts customers to your restaurant. Is it word of mouth? Smells of your exotic food? Your friendly staff? Now think about the many individuals who pass up your restaurant for the one down the street. Why do they do this? Unfortunately, the reality may have nothing to do with how your food tastes or what kind of reputation you have. It may have to do with what your restaurant looks like on the outside. If it isn't appealing, many individuals will simply walk on by, not even giving you a chance to win over their stomachs. With an outdoor dining space, you can create a beautiful and comfortable atmosphere that will attract may new customers to your door.

Sheep Mentality : Individuals often follow other's actions, especially when choosing what restaurant, clothing store, or business is "hot." By simply adding an outdoor dining space to your restaurant, you can take control of this mentality. When potential customers see your customers enjoying themselves outdoors, their interest is automatically peaked. According to a Philadelphia restaurant consultant, Peter Breslow, this is because seeing  the dining experience is like watching a commercial in real life. You get to experience all of the sights and smells, which can be incredibly seductive.

Weather : A big issue you may have with outdoor dining is  the weather. However, this can easily be taken care of. Take for example restaurant in Arizona. During the the hottest months of the year, you might imagine customers wanting to scramble indoors to enjoy the air conditioning. However, restaurants in this state use misting to help cool down their customers wish to eat all fresco. For cooler months, gas heaters and fireplaces can warm up an outdoor space, allowing you to extend your outdoor hours later into the night and year. For rainy, snowy, and even sunny days, consider using awnings to protect your customers from weather.

Seating : Increasing your seating with outdoor dining can greatly increase your revenue. According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, just 20 extra seats outside can increase your revenue by up to 20% during certain times of the year, like spring and fall, when temperatures are perfect for outdoor eating. More seating also allows you to sever more customers at one time, so your loyal clients do not have wait hours for a table to open up.

Making The Right Diagnosis

A surgeon doesn't just walk into an operating room, see the patient lying on the tale and start cutting instead, they enter prepared, armed with a history of assessments, diagnostics, and patient background. They understand the source of the problem before they ever set foot in the room. When the do operate, they do so with a full-fledged plan, knowing exactly what it is they need to address.

Training sales staff, while maybe not quite as life and death , involves much the same dynamic. As a Training Director, you can't shoot blind and hope to meet the needs of each salesperson. There is no one-size-fits-all sales training. Salespeople are unique, each with their own strengths  and challenges. The best sales training recognizes and addresses this.

Let's look at an example. As a national sales assessments and sales training company, one of the most common requests we receive from training departments are requests to teach their salespeople how to handle rejection. Our question back to them is always the same.

Are you sure salespeople are capable of handling rejection?

There are two types of sales skills: hard skills and personal skills. Hard skills include things that can be taught, such as product and industry  knowledge transfer.

More difficult to assess (and address) are personal skills. Personal skills include things such as self-image, practical thinking, empathy, and coach ability. Personal skills involve first an awareness and, second, a behavioral change.

The ideal is to marry hard and "soft," or personal, skills in a  complete sales training program. Both skill sets must be assessed. Otherwise, your sales managers and directors won't know if they're facing a coaching situation (personal skills) or a knowledge transfer issue (hard skills) when dealing with a sales rep who, for example, has difficulty overcoming objections.

It's not uncommon for our personality assessments to reveal that a salesperson struggling with handling rejection is an approval seeker. This is a personal skills issue. You as a Training Director can pay good money to teach that salesperson every sales technique there is about how to handle rejection, but it's not going to stick. If they're intrinsically wired to shut down the minute they receive and objection or rejection, no amount of hard skills training can fix that.

Alternatively, sometimes there are just knowledge gaps, like how to process an order, that need to be addressed and involve little to no coaching.

CCTV Is Third Eye

The Technology has been developed to give the police a technical support to identify the criminals and eliminate the innocent civilians from the camera footage. With the help of this technology a person can be followed across multiple cameras and areas. The technology is to teach the computer specific public behaviour, which is termed as Trigger Behaviour and can collate the video footage of before and after the incident of help the police create the entire history of the incident. Smart CCTV can also trace the person with specific behaviour after the person leaves the area of incident and identify the law breakers as to when and where they entered the scene of crime.

The idea of Smart CCTV is that when the CCTV camera finds something suspicious, it alerts a human operator. For example, people ween lurking in certain area or a car moving too fast or too slow, indicating joyriding or kerb crawling can trigger an alarm. The human CCTV operator will then check the footage and decide whether or not to send a police officer to investigate.

Portsmouth City council is the first UK local authority to use Smart CCTV. The entire network of the city with 152 surveillance cameras is now integrated to the Smart CCTV and has been programming to identify the specific and unusual behaviour. Smart CCTV eliminates the unnecessary footage saving time and energy of the police department to concentrate only on the relevant footage.

Smart CCTV is a part of a project create an IP CCTV Camera surveillance system to provide solution to wider aspects of privacy concerns. The project has the European collaboration and is named ADDPRIV. The highlight of the this technology is the automatic elimination and deletion of the excessive video footage data. The scheme is running on trail with the city council in Portsmouth and if, it proves to be successful, rest of the UK cities will also have the technology to identify the specific behaviour of law breakers and criminals.

Plastic Buckets - Use and Displaying Items for Your Organisation

Many businesses or organizations use clear plastic buckets. Also individuals who like to store large quantities of items look to buckets to meet their needs. These containers are perfect for transporting, displaying or storing items. If you business is in need of buckets for food storage, there are a few things to keep in mind. Not all plastic buckets are suitable for food storage.

Sometimes manufacturers add dye to the plastic. This dye alone will prevent the FDA from approving it as food grade. Other manufacturers use recycled HDPE. These also are not food grade. When something is put in a bucket that is not food, this makes it no longer food grade plastic.HDPE plastic is porous and because of this, it absorbs chemicals, which leach back into food items you place in the bucket later.

Obviously using the wrong container could contaminate the food you are storing. The negative impact on your food could in turn have a negative impact on you your family's health or your customer's health (if you operate in a retail or restaurant environment ). That's why it's very important to feel confident you are buying only the safest container for your food items. It is advisable to use containers that are made of PET or polyethylene terephthalate.

The Food and Drug Administration has found PET to be safe around food items. This is because it does not leech hamful chemicals into the food it is coming in contact with. When considering food storage in plastic buckets, one must take into account whether the containers protect the food from the inside and outside. With PET, food is protected from gases, moisture and airborne smells.

Another great feature of PET plastic is it is durable, yet lightweight. Because of the durability, there will be less worry about the container cracking or breaking. When it comes to food storage the safety of the product is paramount. No one wants to worry that the contents of the plastic bucket have been compromised in any way. So it's best to find a plastic bucket that can withstand some impact. PET plastic can do just that.

As and added bonus PET plastic is easily recyclable. It can be made into a variety of products, including more PET plastic containers. This is very important because you know if you do want to replace your buckets they are an environmentally sound choice.

Now you may be wondering, "If I want to use clear plastic buckets for food storage, how will I know which ones are safe? your best bet would be to find a reputable, experienced plastics manufacturers who specializes in clear plastic FDA approved plastics.

If you're considering using plastic buckets for food storage you may want to find a manufacturer that offers handles and different types of lids. That way you know the food will stay safe. With an airtight lid food will be protected from unwanted debris. Also a choice of different sizes would be and advantage, as different food require different size of containers. Finding a manufacture that specializes in FDA, PET plastic will make choosing the right plastic bucket easy and stress free.

Secure with Steel Door and Steel Frames

When a passageway requires utmost security, there's no doubt for having a combination of steel doors and steel frames. The steel combo provides maximum strength and durability, not to mention resistance against the elements. A side from strength, steel features incredible visual qualities, which further enhances the appeal of a structure or building. Whilst there are other alternatives for securing opening and passages, steel is something that can't be beat in a number of aspect.

Steel Gateways in Action

Both frames and doors from a complete passageways system - entrance, exit or both. The system is designed to meet specific requirements as in the case of industrial, commercial or residential applications of steel shutters, steel doors, and the like. It's not new to see steel gates, shutters and door securing many business and office establishments. Even residential garages are almost always making use of steel for its doors.

Steel's Great Advantages

Doors and frames may be made in variable materials, including wood , aluminum and glass fro doors. However, steel is particularly in demand due to its strength and durability. Where safety of property and life are topmost priority, users need not be indecisive about steel for the doors and frames. Steel's high level of rigidity, versatility, and cost -effectiveness makes it a truly practical option for securing entrances, exits and other openings.

When compared with wood, steel doors are fire retardant and more cost-effective. They don't need to be as thick to be strong, whilst wood doors and frames have to be made of thick, hardwood to guarantee their strength and durability. Steel is more  hardware than wood, and it's only enemy is rust, which can be prevented by the application of anti-rust coating. Wood on the contrary, is vulnerable to many elements including moisture and termites.

When compared with aluminum, steel is heavier and sturdier, not easily bent and dented. When light-duty doors and frames are required, users can always opt for higher gauges of steel, which are thinner and lighter. When heavy-duty steel doors and frames are required, gauges 13, 14 and 12 may be used.

Steel's weaknesses Solved

Steel is prone to corrosion and rust. But galvanised steel offers higher degree of resistance against corrosion and rust. Steel may even be coated to prevent if from being exposed to air and moisture, which cause rust. When corrosion is a major concern and can undermine sanitation, stainless may be used instead. There are different steel alloys available for making steel doors and frames, and each has its own level of resistance against corrosion and rust, and each vary in strength, durability, and price.

Freelancing Money Making Ideas

Freelancing has been around for a number of years now, and is one of the money making ideas that has proven to be very successful for many. Freelancing means completing individual jobs for clients without being permanently hired. Essentially, you are hired to complete work as a specialist, and the employer ( or client) does not have to deal with the cost of hiring you full time.
Prerequisites

In order to become a freelancer, one must have certain qualities and attributes, in addition to being skilled in their chosen field. These include:

Organizational skills.Since freelancing involves effectively running your own business, there has to be a high level of organisation involved. The processes for acquiring new business and maintaining good client relationships (referrals and repeat business ) need to be highly systematic.

Self discipline. It is highly important that a freelancing sticks to deadlines, and ensures that they do not waste time . For a freelancing time is literally money. If you lack the self-discipline., then this may note be one of the money making ideas suited for you.

Professionalism. When approaching clients with letters of application, or sales letters, your manner and tone should be highly professional. Clients, whether they are magazine editors or businesses, will expect you to be courteous and polite at all times. If you are informal or assume some kind of relationship with a client for example, it could well mean that they end up ignoring you or even become offended.

Initial Investment

When it comes to investing money and time, freelancing have the benefit of not having to worry too much about a huge financial outlay at the start. This is one of the biggest advantages of picking a money making idea like freelancing. If the business does begin to grow, then there may be a need for some more advanced marketing as time goes on.

initially though, money is not as important as time. Freelancers have to work very hard to acquire clients and building a reputation. As long as freelancers know the main investment will come from the time they put into building a reputation, they should manage the first few week and months comfortably.

How much can I make?

Freelancing is not one of those money making ideas that pays off immediately. Freelancers should not expect to make millions. However, a very comfortable six figure income is made by the very best in the field.

Which aspect of freelancing you work, in the harder you work the more money you will make. However, some types of freelancing naturally make more money  than others. It is important to understand that freelancers are often guided by the clients themselves.
Freelance writers, for example, are paid what a magazine or other client is willing to pay. once you are established tough, you can set your own rates.

Advantages of working as a Freelancer.

You can work your own hours. Within reason, you can pretty much set your own work day limits. Once you know how much work you have to do, you can work at any hour of the day. This allows for a lot of flexibility.

You can do what you love. If you have a passion, such as writing or photography, you can pursue a freelance career in that field. This is not always possible in salaried life, making this one of the most sought after money making ideas.

You can set your own pay levels. Once you are established and known for good work, you could soon find yourself in the position where you can work less, and decide how much you are going to charge. This is a particularly attractive aspect of the career path.

Disadvantages of Working as a Freelancer

There are disadvantages too, such as:

Pressure. It can be stressful when  you know that you are entirely responsible for the amount of money you make.

Difficult Clients. Sometimes clients may be unreasonable, or not pay on time. This causes a lot stress. There are ways to deal whit this, but a difficult client can cause a freelancer no end of stress.

Human Resources Letter

Did you know 53% of your workforce is not producing up to their capability? Mercer Consultants conducted a survey entitled what's working over the past two quarters among nearly 30,000 workers ina17 countries, including 2,400 workers in the US.

Here are the findings:

  • Nearly one in three (32%) of US workers is seriously considering leaving his or her organization at the present time.
  • Another 21% are not looking to leave but view their  employers unfavorably and have minimal loyalty, commitment or motivation.
Since two in five of your employees are not considering leaving, this issue is not simply about  finding a way to increase retention. In fact if you increase retention without improving attitude, the financial hit on the bottom line could be catastrophic to your company. Without some type of intervention your employee sentiment will continue to decline. Team building can be an important part that intervention.

No doubt you are aware of the value of team building activities with your organization, and you probably conduct team building events for one of these two reasons. The first reason ... Tradition! "Our company has always done an event at the annual meeting."Or"We like to do something physical, since there is so much sitting during session "Or" The employees expect it" The second reason is a decision to entertain the participants and break up a long series of meeting. Why? "Our CEO love go-karts." Or " We think it's important to have fun." Both of these are excellent reasons to do team building event. However, in my experience, companies tend to under-utilize the talents and capabilities of quality team building consulting. Addressing specific needs is possible in both the above scenarios.

Mindy Fox, A Senior Partner at Mercer says, "Diminished loyalty and widespread apathy can undermine business performance, particularly as companies increasingly look to their workforces to drive productivity gains and spur innovation."

This clearly calls for team building that goes beyond tradition and/or simple entertainment. Your employees need an event to improve their attitudes, motivation and professional performance.... not just another passive seminar. A quality team building company will assist you in assessing what critical needs exist. A careful analysis of how to address these needs should lead to recommendation to your management team.

The types of problems your team building could address are varied. For  example you might consider events to:

1. Engage participants in the over-arching goal of the meeting

2. Help employees to get to know one another

3. Improve intro-departmental cooperation

4. Raise the sensitivity of the participants toward each other

5. Bring laughter and lighten up the environment

6. Motivate the participants toward a new company goal

As an organization consultant, I'd lime every team building event to have a concrete, measurable goal. Remember tradition and entertainment don't rule out having real world goal. Having measurable goal will you to determine if the training produced a suitable return on investment. The behavior you want to modify must be observable. Let's compare two sample goals:

1.  We want the team to work together better.

2.  Team productivity will increase by 10% over the next three months and complaints to HR will be reduced by 25% .

Goal number one is a great outcome, but how will your management team decide if it is achieved? It is rather nebulous. Goal number two is more straightforward and allows your managers to do before and after measurements. This approach is essential in large companies where programs might be rolled out over thousands of employees. Your current team building professionals probably charge significant fees for employee training. One question to ask yourself is whether your company is getting a reasonable return on this expenditure?

Consider again these statistics..... Over half your work force is experiencing "diminished loyalty and widespread apathy. " As a Human Resource professional you must begin to look at team building as an effective tool to change the attitudes of your employees, increase their productivity, retain valuable workers and produce a positive RO!. Why wait until your next annual conference? Some of  your employees may already be preparing to change jobs.

How To Get Good Financing For Your Business Venture

Take money to make money! There are costs to be covered by entrepreneurs seeking large amounts of $$$. Be prepared for what is a fair cost, and what is not...

"It takes money to make money" is very pertinent when it comes to raising  millions of $$$ for a new business. There are very real costs involved in creating that winning business you have in mind. You will soon find that the costs of employing professionals to work on your new project takes a lot of money- unless they are shareholders.. You also have the long list of licences, permits and approvals that you shall usually need to acquire. It can get to feel that you're paying out a lot of money. But that is part of the cost of securing your financial future - this stuff is necessary, and it costs money.

It's also true that when it comes to raising money from investors you have the costs of getting your business a top quality business plan, cash flow forecasts, and some basic modelling of the business to show that it's robust and 'bullet-proof' in changeable condition. There are also a few financing consultants who can guide you through the application process with an investor. If they are experienced and capable, they should know what the investor needs to feel safe investing in you and your project.

Without a good business plan you're not going to get to face-to-face with the investor to make your pitch. Many would-be business developers then find that approaching an investment source costs money too. A broker should only charge for success - a commission at settlement of your financing.

Be wary, and check everything. Since the Global Financial Crisis a huge amount of capital has been destroyed - severely liming the ability of banks and other financial institutions to fund investment. Be just as wary of the 'famous names' as you are of those you've never heard of... The company you approach may have been an active investor in the past, but check on how much they are currently investing.

However, an investor may also want to be paid for you lodging an application. This is valid - because they need to know who you are and whether you're 'credit-worthy'.

Investor due diligence costs you money - and it can be quite a lot of money. If the investor doesn't live in your country, they shall want to have their people travelling to make on-site inspections, face-to-face interviews with everyone associated with the project. They have to it's unavoidable. If you've been working with good people, who can deliver, then they shall be working 12-16 hours a day on the due diligence, and avoiding partying and girls. The other sort you don't want to be involved with..

Overall budget for the application process to be about 0.5% of what you're seeking. So if you're applying for US $50,000,000, that would involve costs of about US$250,000 in the whole process, application and investor due diligence.

Stability, Prudence and Growth Prospects in Your Company's Valuation

There are many aspects that affect your financial performance and, in turn, affect the perceived value of your company. Being able to illustrate the stability of your revenue and earnings along with validating your growth prospects are important factors.

Investors want to know that the company isn't at any great risk of losing key employees or clients because there are better options available to them or due to the fact that there is no contractual obligation to sick around. While contacts can sometimes be restrictive to the company, they are vital to ensuring that your key clients aren't in a position to simply walk away. On the negative motivation aspects, an important elements is making sure that your key employees are obligated to acting in the best interest of your company and cannot simply choose to start their won, competitive business and try to steal your clients. Conversely, a powerful positive incentive plan that vests over a few years.... thus, they need to stay on board to get the full amount of the bonus they earned a few years ago.

Another aspect that investors will look at is how prudent your are in the management of your company. Are your taking any unnecessary risks in your operations? Do you have the proper industry certification, adequate insurance, etc..? There are several ways you can prudently mange down the risk in your business. Also, they will want to know that your budgeting is based on meeting the needs of today and funding the bona fide opportunities of tomorrow. For example, if you have not received a single call from having an expensive online or media campaign, the why do you have it? Similarly, are your carrying too much redundant management or not getting the proper efficiencies out of your labour force? At some point, a savvy investor is going to want ot know how prudently your company is prepared seize opportunities, not be wasteful in how you spend it and certainly not be foolish in how you manage risk.

An investor who is motivated by growth in the value of their equity will only put their money into your business if they believe that your growth prospects are real. It is generally not practical to ask an investor to give your company full value for where you 'forecast' you will be in five years. However, a thorough and well-presented business development plan that id based on facts and defensible can create a sense of "FMS", Fear of Missing Something. By illustrating to an investor that your have the people, the strategy and the contacts to hit your targets, they can shift from being skeptical (and looking for reasons to not do the deal) to being afraid of missing out. The potential for an investor to feel 'regret' or 'loss' has a much more powerful emotion impact than being 'excited' about the opportunity... in general, people will go to greater lengths to avoid negative emotions than they will to experience positive ones.

Being able to convince an investor that these critical areas are competently taken care of will give you an opportunity to take away many of the sceptical thoughts they may have, convert them into a believer in your business and the opportunity they would be crazy to miss out on.

Many Reasons For Move To Your Business

There are many reasons for finding yourself in a position to want to move your business, from practical to financial considerations. It could be that your don't own the property you are currently operating out of, and you need to move to bought property to minimise your outgoings. On the other hand, you may have realised you are not in the optimum area for your business or that your manufacturing property is actually worth more in real estate.

Should any of these situations arise, you're sure to find yourself faced with all of the challenges of moving an established business. This challenge doesn't  have to be a negative on however, with the right careful planning, you can present the move as an opportunity.

First of all, you need to investigate potential places to move to and you're likely to want to employ the help of a property specialist, to ensure you make the right choice. Once you've established your new base, it's a good idea to write a timeline to help you make sure you're able to effectively organize all of the aspects of the move

You'll also need to very clearly split and apportion tasks to outside contractors and internal members of your team, ensuring all areas of responsibility have been covered. This is also a good time to investigate any permits or new types of insurance you may need to secure for your new premises. Shop around to ensure your find a reputable and trustworthy moving firm, and fill them in on all of your specific needs at the earliest possible date.

Be sure to pay several visits to your new building before the proposed moving date, and give your electrical or IT team plenty of time to create floor plans. This is the only way you can safely assume that all of your machinery and IT equipment will be quickly and easily accommodated after the move. You will also want to carry out an inventory of your current premises and work out how much of your assets need to come with you and which should be sold or stripped before moving.

Apply for new phone and fax numbers and organize an internet connection as a priority and ensure these will be operational prior to move. This is crucial if you want your switchover to be as smooth as possible, as even a small amount of downtime can cost you dearly as a company

Safety Tips for Working in a Factory

One major advancement in helping this turnaround become possible is the ability for employees to obtain lightweight, durable and affordable footwear that meet the safety guideline put in place. Working in hazardous environment has always had a "risk factor" for anybody employed in these lines of work but now with advances in technology the risk are diminishing.

For example, the safety shoes of yesterday have been transformed over past decade due to consumer demand for the latest fashions and trends. What choice of safety footwear did employees have in the 1960's? The only available choice of footwear was the black hobnail boot. It was great for the purpose of protecting your feet on the building site but not so much when you wanted to socialize after a long hard day.

Manufacturers have gradually increased the range of safety footwear available and today the market is full of colourful, lightweight and durable products that would not look out of place in the trendy establishments these important products have helped to build over the years.

Health and safety in the workplace has never been as important as it is today. It has become a huge task for the manufacturers of safety footwear to deliver a products is aesthetically pleasing and also protects the user in the rigours of their day-to-day activities.

Included in this eye-catching assortment of safety footwear is the latest trend for steel toe cap trainers. Market leaders such as Hi- Tec. Cat and Lavoro have developed footwear that is as protective as steel toe cap boot but also includes the "must have" qualities for today's fashion conscious consumers. These manufacturers, along with many more have each designed a range of safety trainers that are;

  1. Lightweight
  2. Flexible
  3. Durable
  4. Water resistant
  5. Hard-wearing
  6. Meet safety standards set down by the governing bodies
For instance, the Lavoro Homestead safety trainer is equipped with a steel the cap and a Kevlar plate built into the sole of the shoe to give maximum protection in the workplace. Whilst it ensurers the owner is protected from any  dangers that they may face in the work environment, it also looks stylish and is lightweight so can be worn after or at social occasions when the need arises.

It is now impossible to differentiate between the latest steel toe cap trainers and similar products produced for leisure purposes unless they are very closely examined.

Connected Capital

Organizations that embody this ethos rather than tack it on to products or advertising will be well positioned to prosper. And not many would quibble with the chance to do good with cash in the process of making a profit. So-called Impact investments (social and environmentally oriented) could hit $ 500 billion within the next five to 10 years, according to Monitor Institute "We're at a very nascent stage" in the industry's development, they say "We don't know how big this could get."

Already, private investment in green economy companies globally is estimated at over $ 1.25 trillion since 2007 which shows how investors and entrepreneurs are leading governments in promoting sustainable growth. In 2008 a tipping point of sorts was reached when more money was invested in new renewable power capacity than in new fossil fuel capacity.

In a broader context, harsh economic reality in the last decade has shown the consequences of not thinking critically enough about our behavior in business and of adopting a short-term rather than a long-term, stakeholder-inclusive approach. Around the world there is a growing awareness and discussion on notions such as "compassionate" and "connected" Capitalism, whereby companies need to address their social license and return to values. This is relevant in the banking sector and required in South Africa to address a range of social and community ills (poverty, unemployment, Aids, abuse, crime, inequality). The reality is that the sate cannot solve all the ills, many still a legacy of apartheid, and the vibrant entrepreneurial energy within the country needs to be ignited. This, together with an increase in conscious awareness of our impact on society and the planet will allow citizen to create their own change.

The awareness needs to be turned into action because it's not happening - a McKinsey study recently showed that companies are not taking a proactive approach to managing sustainability with only 30 percent of executives saying their companies actively seek opportunities to invest in sustainability or embed it in their business practices. When it is a policy it is often a separate department rather than part of the fabric of the business.

In South Africa over 90% of savers researched were positively pre-disposed to placing funds at a sustainable banking institution. This affirms a philanthropy report which showed that wealthy South Africa are the second most generous nation (behind the USA) when it comes to giving money, and rank fourth in volunteering their time to worthy causes (Barclay's Wealth).

Safe Working at Height Sure 100 %

Safety First in the Workplace

One of the great legacies resulting from the modern mining boom is that every action taken in the workplace is seen through the lens of safety. Australia can proudly boast that its workers operates in one of the most OH&S focused working environments globally.

This is not to create a deterrent in productivity but to ensure that everyone is protected from the workers in and around the mines though to the managers and executives examining protocols in terms of liability and impact to project feasibility. The era of 'at all costs' prospecting and production is over. However, not all safety standard are applied equally.

Government bodies such as Workplace NSW have identified the failure of the connection between harness and support system as the primary cause of several deaths and injuries in workplace scenarios that were completely avoidable if Height Safety Access regulations were followed.

Height Safety as a Key Area of Weakness

As safety standard are increasing, height safety is one of the key areas where further attention is needed. This is often not deliberate. it is an oversight as to when height safety risk control measures should b taken.

The current perception is that height safety applies just to all buildings but OH&S regulations nationwide have demanded that workers need to be secured when at height. As an example, OH&S Regulations 2001 requires personnel that carry out work above 2mtrs must be attached safety and securely to prevent a possible fall. This will apply often in a  variety of scenarios in surface and underground mining sites. Height Safety risk controls would apply to workers in or on top of mining shafts, the edge or an open cut operation or on any temporary structure.

However, the great majority of mine managers are unaware of the exact legislation they must follow and have personnel working in an unsafe environment. One of the biggest ongoing concerns is the education of safety requirements to people who are 'at risk' or manage those 'at risk' the implications are profound as injury or death is a worst case scenario that is completely avoidable. 100% safety should be the priority.

Sub-standard Installation of Height Safety Systems

Even the managers who endorse an installation of a height safety system are placing trust on the installer who may not be familiar with all the elements required to adequately create a secure 'at height' working environment. They need to know about the equipment uses, the composition of the host structure where the height system is fixed, the way it is fixed, the context of use, are all critical factors that determine the quality of the installation of the height safety system.

Rubber-stamped Self Certification

Australia Standard are a 'beast effort' to create continuity and consistency in an industry. When written into legislation like Work cover and OH&S Regulation 2001 it provides a framework for safety companies to operate in. However, the reality of the workplace is that 'at height' security is a non-core activity and only rudimentary training would be given on site. The contractors would then only recognise what they know and may easily miss what they don't in the event of an accident the liability will point back to the worker who certified the system ready for use. Workplace legislation that seems rigorous on the surface is undermined by the quality control standards of those that are applying it. Unfortunately, injury or death will often be the trigger that causes a review. A proactive approach is demanded.

Good Lead Supplier And Demand

Heavily used in industry and manufacturing, so if you took a look you'd find it "all over" your home and business.

But if you're not in manufacturing then what use would you have for it? The simple answer here is that there are lots of uses for lead, and the more you look, the more you'll find.

For instance, of all products available lead is indeed the heaviest, so it's excellent for any type of weight or counterweights solutions. Do you have something in your life the needs something heavy to hold it down or to balance it? Then your best choice would always be lead.

Not only is it heavy and compact but it doesn't corrode and is soft, which means you don't have to worry recyclable concrete or anything so commonly used for weight and counterbalance, if it should come to a point in time when you find that you no longer need it, you can convert it into real money. Now try that  with a concrete block.

So the next order is to find a lead supplier and not just any supplier but the best lead supplier. Like so many other things you can buy, there really is more to it than meets the eye when it comes time to buying lead.

Now, the last thing you want to do is to simply pick up your phone to call around and find a metal supplier that happens to stock lead. You would be far better served by going online to find a firm that specializes exclusively in lead and its ancillary products.

For starters you're always going to get a better price, and if you think that savings on a kilo of lead doesn't add up, you're in for a big surprise. Because lead is so heavy and dense, savings and losses on what you pay can add up quickly to big money. So unlike other lighter metals like, say aluminium, a little savings per kilo can really go a long way on final bill.

Services should also be a major consideration when you're deciding on where you're going to buy your lead. If you're buying a larger amount the shipping and handling will certainly make a huge difference.

A firm that specializes in lead will be able to offer you assistance in the area of custom shaping an pouring as well.

For example if you're considering using lead for ballast in a waterborne craft you may find that a firm that can pour or shape your lead will be a great help in getting the maximum effect in the lowest most convenient area of your craft.
